We’ve been told that eating fatty foods is really unhealthy, so we’ve been positioned to be believe that fat is diet enemy number one. People instead are opting to eat processed foods, refined carbohydrates and an increased amount of sugar. This has led to more people becoming sick and overweight.

However, there are some healthy fats which can be beneficial to your diet. According to the experts at House Call Doctor, there are some fats that can actually reduce cholesterol, improve insulin and stabilise blood sugar levels.

The best high-fat foods to eat:

  • Avocados:

Avocados are unlike most fruits, as they have a high amount of healthy fats instead of carbohydrates. Eating a medium-sized avocado will fulfil around 40 per cent of your daily fibre intake. Avocados are also a good source of potassium, containing 40 per cent more than bananas. Studies have suggested that avocados are great for cardiovascular health.

  • Cheese:

Most of us like to eat cheese on a biscuit or have it as topping on pizza, but cheese is surprisingly nutritious. A single thick piece of cheese contains an entire cup of milk, so it’s an incredible source of calcium, selenium, phosphorus and vitamin B12. Cheese is also high in protein and other healthy fats, which can help reduce Type 2 diabetes.

  • Dark chocolate:

Chocoholics all around will be happy to hear that dark chocolate has many health benefits. Along with tasting great, dark chocolate is rich in healthy fats, fibre, iron, magnesium, copper and manganese. There’s also a tonne of antioxidants in dark chocolate that outrank even blueberries. All in all, dark chocolate is one of those rare health foods that actually tastes nice and can help increase brain cognition and function, lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health.

  • Eggs:

Lots of us like to have hard boiled eggs for lunch or eggs on toast for breakfast, but studies have shown the cholesterol found in eggs doesn’t affect most people. Eggs are rich in minerals and vitamins, containing a little bit of nearly every nutrient we need in our body. Eggs help protect the eyes, lose weight and high in omega-3.
