Guide on how to read the results when
using HealthPro02 air quality test kits to collect air samples and grow results in our
pectin gel petri dish containers. What shows up in 48-72 hours?
  
Evaluating your HealthProO2 air sampling petri dish culture results.
On the right you'll see a HealthProO2 air petri dish
cultured for 30-40 hrs on a closet shelf or dresser drawer. Home air was collected by
exposing pectin gel culture medium for 45 minutes in a bedroom that was closed off for
12-18 hours before test. TIP: try to eliminate HVAC and
outside ventilation contaminants before test. HVAC vent exposure tests should only expose
culture for 1 minute.

Visual culture results after 60 hours. It's hard to pick out yeast growths
from the bacteria as both are more solid then the black/greenish fuzzy mold spore
colonies. TIP: Close off room 12-18 hrs before testing air with an air purifier unit
plugged in. HVAC multi-room contamination can be kept to minimum by shutting off vents.
Our culture medium is so effective it will pick up small colonies even in sealed hospital
and computer room samplings. |
Rule
of thumb as to contamination growth colonies:
3-4 spots
being average with 5 spots= light contamination
6-10 growth spots above
average contamination and 9+ spots heavy contamination
IF you have purchased a NANO O2 air
purifier PLEASE NOTE**before and after testing:
1. Test before using NANO O2 : larger
spots noticed on culture dish
2. Test after using NANO O2::
smaller spots on dish is progress since the microbes are being broken down into
smaller units.
Please be as accurate as possible
on;
1. exposure times on the before and after test must be timed exactly
2. incubation periods and indoor conditions must be timed exactly and match as
closely as possible. The introduction of outside air will give you a false reading so
be sure to close off the testing area to outside air as well as ventilation for at least
10-12 hrs prior to administering tests

- An extremely important problem that there is no home testing
available at this time for the VOC's (volatile organic compounds) for which our air
piurifier technology was first designed for its remediation too. These come from dryer
sheets, aerosols and general household cleaners that you may feel to be safe..... however,
are not.

9/19/2007 Regarding our conversation
earlier with Daniel & Molly regarding their HealthProO2 test experience. Today the
biggest challenges DITY air test kits encountered are central air homes/buildings and
testing using the highly effective pectin gel medium. Central air takes the
contaminants from one room and spreads them throughout the house. It takes some extra time
to see the differences in our before and after air purifier tests with central air
being an issue.
Here are some things that you can do to better
isolate outside HVAC contaminants during the air sample selection process:

Reduce the HVAC contamination
effect: Get the "cut to size" fine carbon filter sheets made by Hunter fan
company (small writing on box side) from Home depot for approx $11.99, Buy enough for for
about 6-8 HVAC register vents, and cut them to the size of the registers, where common
forced air is coming out for each room. You will need to unscrew the register vent plate
and make sure it covers the whole open space where the air comes out tightly.. for
better coverage double the material over to provide more filtering surface. This will take
some ingenuity on your part to make it look as professional as needed during the
HealthProO2 tests. |

Keep as much outside air from
coming in while performing the tests as well as the registers closed if possible within
the space. Rule of thumb is to make sure that you have the space closed off completely for
at least 12-18 hours prior to administering the first test. |

For the second test: Keep the
space closed off again and let the NANO O2 air purifier unit run for the same amount of
time within the same closed space. Then administer the second test. The visual test
results are a guideline to prove to you that the NANO O2 unit is doing more than just
being plugged in. Keep in mind that you will never get a HealthProO2 petri dish that is
entirely clean, even in sealed computer rooms or hospital clean rooms that we have tested.
This holds true where they use a combination HEPA filtration and UVC blue light system
that supposedly filters everything over 2-micron. Even then our effective spore, mold,
bacteria medium show showed 6-8 growth colonies on the test disk. |
